Steph

Steph’s very first sewing project was to make a Roman blind. Cutting several lengths of dowelling with a saw was a surprising part of the process. Her current project is a quilted housecoat.

Pat​
​
Pat inherited a cache of fabrics, each piece inspiration for ‘What to do with it' and the inspiration for some interesting garments. Current project, tweed trousers with lining to the knee.

Nicole
​
Nicole has a passion for working with natural fabrics, many collected during her research trips to Asia and Africa.

Sarah​
​
Sarah, has made charming cotton frocks for her daughters and has just started on an ambitious dress for herself with elasticised ruched bodice.

Agnes
​
Agnes has been sewing since a gal, enjoys making traditional Indian clothes in sometimes exotic fabrics to add to her extensive clothes wardrobe. About to take on the challenge of a winter cape styled coat.

Judi​
​
Judi is new to sewing but has already created two pairs of linen trousers tailored to suit her long legs! She proudly wore them on a recent holiday in America.

Katie
​
Katie is an enthusiastic new student to dressmaking. Launched in at the deep end with a shirt style dress in fine corduroy, reinforcing her skills by making a second dress in denim, using the same pattern.

Mary
​
Mary enjoys wearing a classic, understated style of fashion. With an eye for lovely fabrics and detail, both the lined woollen jacket and corduroy skirt Mary has made in class, sit happily in her wardrobe.

Mia
​
​Mia is a confident machinist having progressed to the adult evening class from beginning age 12 years in the Sustainable Sewing class. Mia is interested in up-cycling old garments into new.

M
​
​M is our star creative, who started age 14 years in the Sustainable Sewing class and progressed to the Wednesday evening group. M is currently studying for a degree in Theatre Costume Design at Nottingham University.

Jayne
​
Jayne is an experienced seamstress who loves working with quality fabrics creating them into classic clothes. Never willing to take a short cut, the results are garments of real quality.

Diane
​
Di is an experienced seamstress with a passion for colourful cotton fabrics inspired whilst working in India as a nurse. Di is a volunteer helper at the young people’s Sustainable Sewing class.
